1 Killed in Overnight Accident on I-229

A second person was taken to the hospital with critical injuries.

(ST. JOSEPH, Mo.) One person was killed in a single vehicle accident on I-229 early Sunday.

St. Joseph police responded to the accident on I-229 south of E. Lake Blvd. around 12:09 a.m. Sunday.

Police say one person was pronounced dead at the scene. A second person was taken to the hospital with critical injuries.

Police have not yet released any names or how the crash happened.

I-229 from E. Lake Blvd to South 22nd Street was shut down for several hours while police investigated the crash.
