12th death related to COVID-19 reported in Buchanan County

24 new confirmed cases were also reported on Wednesday.

(BUCHANAN COUNTY, Mo.) Buchanan County has recorded its 12th death related to COVID-19.

The St. Joseph Health Department announced the death in its latest coronavirus report on Wednesday, however, no other details were provided.

This is the second death the county has recorded in two days.

24 new confirmed cases were also reported on Wednesday.

According to the health department, as of September 2, there have been 1,459 total COVID-19 cases in Buchanan County since the pandemic began.

A strong cold front will make its way into northwest Missouri and northeast Kansas bringing much cooler air and a good chance for showers and thunderstorms Thursday night into Friday. Friday and Saturday the cold air will continue to be in place with daytime highs only reaching into the 40's. As the weekend continues we will see increasing chances for rain. A cold start to the beginning of next week with highs only in the 30's and 40's.
