(ST. JOSEPH, Mo.) The Buchanan County Clerk's Office is ready to go for election day.

Last minute preparations were taking place at election headquarters Monday afternoon. Election officials say volunteers are trained and ready to go to handle tomorrow's crowds.

The Buchanan County Clerk is predicting a 30-percent voter turnout, but is optimistic that more people will come out to vote.

"I hope it gets higher, but with the weather being so cold and it being still icy out. You just never know. People don't like being out in the cold," said Buchanan County Clerk Mary Baack-Garvey.

Polls open at 7:00 a.m.

After the thunderstorms moved out the area early Sunday morning, we were left with a little bit of cooler, overcast Sunday. Tonight looks to be decently mild with lows in the 40s and calm winds. Tomorrow we will be warming back into the 60s for our high with clouds building throughout the day. There is a slight chance for rain on Tuesday, followed by mostly sunny skies and temperatures in the 60s for Wednesday and Thursday. More rain chances return towards the end of this week.
