A new website created by Missouri Western State University's Center for Entrepreneurship is giving students and potential business owners an easier way to break into the industry.

Director of the Center for Entrepreneurship Anette Weeks said the site, called Business SUCCESSion, is a way for people in the community to list their businesses all in one place for anyone who is looking to purchase.

“People who want to sell their business can list it on the website, and they can list it in any way they want. They can list what their name is and have it very public, or some people don’t want it to be known because they’re worried about their customers finding out," Weeks said.

The website also opens the door to new opportunities for business students who want to become entrepreneurs. Business Finance major Colton Saunders said students now know where to go to start looking for a way to get into the industry.

“I hear more and more people wanting to own their own business and do their own thing, and that seems to be a really good way that people can be successful," Saunders said.

The way the website is set up is anyone looking to sell their business can list their place of work on the site, and then anyone looking to purchase can see what has been listed and how to get in contact with the business.

The site launched just last week and has already been a success. In a matter of days, Business SUCCESSion has had five businesses list themselves on the page, and one has already been purchased.

Weeks said this also provides a good opportunity for students because many of the people looking to sell their business are willing to teach and work with the first-time buyers.

“A lot of these businesses are willing to mentor. So it can be a transitional time that they can train them [buyers] in whatever the business is about, and it can happen over time," Weeks said.

Saunders said many times he has heard students say they want to be an entrepreneur, but don't know where to start. Now, the website provides a resource for students to go when they're ready to begin their career.

“The earlier you start, the better trajectory you have for the rest of your life, and something that you can build up," Saunders said.

The website lists businesses for sale all across the northwest Missouri region. To get in contact with the Center for Entrepreneurship, call 816-271-4283.

The site is listed on the MWSU Center for Entrepreneurship website, under the business opportunities tab.
