8-year-old ran over by truck

An 8-year-old boy was ran over by a truck after falling off the tailgate Sunday evening.

(HAMILTON, Mo.)  An 8-year-old boy was ran over by a truck after falling off the tailgate Sunday evening.

The accident happened around 5:45 p.m. on private property of Route CC about five miles north of Hamilton.

According to Missouri State Highway Patrol, an adult was working under the hood of an Ford F150 trying to get the vehicle to start. The truck was left in gear. The truck began to roll, and that's when Alex Rich fell off the tailgate. The rear right tire then ran over Rich.

Rich was taken by Life Flight Eagle to Children's Mercy in Kansas City with moderate injuries.

Today will be another warm and sunny day with temperatures making a run for 70 this afternoon. Winds will remain comfortable today out of the south east around 5-10 mph. Clouds will start to build into our area tonight into the overnight hours. Clouds will linger through the first half of our Friday as an area of low pressure passes to the south of our area. Rain chances look to stay well south of our area as well. Temperatures will be a bit cooler on Friday but will quickly warm up again for the weekend. Above average temperatures and sunshine look to continue into next week. Rain chances will start to return to the forecast by the middle of next week.
