(SAVANNAH, Mo.) Angels Vet Express asked for the community's help in locating the person responsible for shooting a cat multiple times.

The incident happened Saturday when a woman found the black and white, short-haired female cat laying on the side of a road on the outskirts of Mound City. The cat was believed to be around three years-old.

The woman brought the cat to Angels Vet Express. The clinic said they tried to save the feline, but in the end she was too far gone to keep alive.

"Somebody had shot her with a shotgun, and both front legs were basically disintegrated," Gary Silverglat, co-founder of Angels Vet Express, said.

Silverglat offered a $1,000 reward for anyone who has valid information on who committed the crime. He said an anonymous call can be made to M'Shoogy's by dialing 816-324-5824.

The clinic said this is not the first time they've had to treat an animal for gunshot wounds. In fact, Silverglat said it happens way too often.

"I mean it's not a macho thing to go kill an innocent animal. It's a very low-life, cruel person who does stuff like this," Silverglat said.

The number, 816-324-5824, is available to call 24/7. Silverglat said they also respond to calls and tips given to the Police Department and Missouri State Highway Patrol.
