(ST. JOSEPH, Mo.) Around 70 singers returned home after a two-week tour that took them to the western part of the United States and to Canada. The tour featured 11 performances in 15 days.
The New Generation Singers group returned to St. Joseph from its annual tour across the country on Saturday. This year's trip took singers to places like Glacier and Yellowstone National Parks and Banff, Canada.
New Generation Singers is a Christian singing group that has been in St. Joseph since 1970. Members range from freshmen in high school to college-aged youth.
Most members are from the St. Joseph area and have been working on this trip since last Fall.
Byron Myers, the director of the organization, says that his favorite part of these yearly trips is to give the members a trip to places that they have never been.
"It's really a cool thing to know that you are helping them see different parts of the country and kind of expand their view of the world." Myers said. "To see that things are different and that there are things out there that they have never seen. And yet at the same time, that people are pretty much the same."
The singing group is holding a membership rally on August 26 at Ashland United Methodist Church at 5 o'clock. For more information visit the website at ngsingers.com.
