The St. Joseph City Council meets Monday night and it'll be the last regular session for the current eight council members and mayor Bill Falkner as a group before elections in nine days.

It's already guaranteed to be a new looking council in coming weeks as mayor Bill Falkner is stepping down and two first time candidates have already won council seats, securing majority votes in February's primary.

On the agenda Monday is whether the city will get involved with renovation work to the American Electric building downtown, buying nine new city buses and putting the renewal of the Community Improvement Project 1/2 cent sales tax on the August ballot.

Temperatures today will remain slightly above average with highs in the mid 80s. Most of today will be dry and sunny, but a weak cold front will move through late this afternoon into this evening giving us the chance for a few isolated showers and storms. Conditions will stay comfortable this weekend with highs in the mid 80s on Saturday and upper 80s on Sunday. Temperatures will start off above average on Monday before a cold front moves through. That front will give us additional rain chances Monday night and some much more fall like temperatures through the rest of the week.
