(ST. JOSEPH, Mo) Trails West is expected to bring in tens of thousands of people to dowtown St. Joseph, and if you're one of them you'll probably want to know which roads to avoid. St. Joseph Public Works says you'll want to avoid the areas Francis Street from 9th to 12th streets, 10th St. near City Hall and 12th St. between Felix and Jules. While Public Works says most of these routes aren't usually the most traveled, they still want drivers to be aware as they're coing and going from the festival.

"...When they get down there if they just kinda watch out for all the people that'll hopefully be out for the event, as I said most of the closures are where the majority of people are gonna be going, but people will be walking to their cars or what not and they'll wanna watch out for those." said Keven Schneider, director of streets for St. Joseph Public Works.

Public works also wants drivers to know there are many options for parking in the area, there are many streets with parking on the side, and all parking garages will be open as well.

The festival kicks off toinight and runs through the weekend.

Temperatures and humidity will continue to climb on Monday making it feel like a typical hot and humid summer day in northwest Missouri and northeast Kansas. Temperatures will warm into the mid to upper 80s and increasing moisture and instability. This will likely mean shower and thunderstorm chances for the remainder of the Memorial Day weekend.
