(ST. JOSEPH, Mo) Crews are hard at work getting Cool Crest ready to reopen.

The course was recently purchased by the owners of Joe Town Mini Golf.

The new owners have run into some obstacles with electrical, greens, paint, etc. but have multiple crews helping out to get the course ready for action.

They say there is a lot of work to do but are happy that they are able to bring the iconic course back to life.

"We're really happy to be doing this for the community. You know, I've lived here my whole life and I know people miss this (Cool Crest) not being here," said Owner, Rick Gilmore. "And hopefully get it back to the way everybody remembers it. Including root beer floats and picnic tables."

Cool Crest plans on opening no later than May 1st.

They say as long as the weather is warm, they will be working as hard as they can to get the course back to its original state, including having the famous root beer floats, course obstacles, and the 19th hole.

Temperatures have dropped down below freezing for many this morning with mostly clear skies creating a few areas of frost. Today temperatures will struggle to warm up again into the upper 40s and lower 50s with a mix of sun and clouds. Tonight temperatures will drop into the upper 20s and lower 30s again providing another frosty morning on Thursday. Southerly winds will return on Thursday helping to slowly warm temperatures back up into the upper 50s. Most of the day Thursday will be dry but rain chances will start to increase after about 6 PM. Rain chances will continue for the first half of the day Friday before moving out of our area. The weekend looks comfortable and spring like with temperatures in the 60s and 70s under mostly sunny skies. The warm up continues into next week with highs in the 70s and 80s on Monday.
