Driver crashes into MoDOT protective trailer in work zone

The accident happened on Highway 36 in Caldwell County on Tuesday.

(CALDWELL COUNTY, Mo.) The Missouri Department of Transportation saw another work zone crash involving a MoDOT vehicle in northwest Missouri.

The accident happened on Highway 36 in Caldwell County on Tuesday.

MoDOT tweeted that crews were painting stripes on the highway when a driver hit a protective trailer known as a truck-mounted attenuator.

No one was hurt in the accident.

MoDOT said this was the third accident involving a TMA in northwest Missouri this year. Across the state, there have been 35 accidents involving TMAs so far in 2021.

Temperatures today were well above average with highs in the mid 60s under mostly sunny skies. Winds were a bit breezy at times with gusts up to 20 mph out of the south. Temperatures will continue to warm up on Thursday with highs making a run for the 70s. Sunny and dry weather will continue tomorrow. Temperatures will remain well above average on Friday before some slightly cooler air moves into the area for the weekend. Dry and sunny weather looks to continue through the weekend with highs in the mid to lower 50s.
