(ST. JOSEPH, Mo.) An overnight stabbing sent two people to the hospital with serious injuries.

It happened at the Legends Sports Bar around 1:20 a.m. Saturday morning.

Authorities said a male suspect used an edged weapon to assault two Legends employees.

According to witnesses, two suspects were attempting to steal liquor from behind the bar.

Two employees then attempted to escort the suspects out of the building when one of the them pulled out a weapon and assaulted the employees, according to witnesses.

Both of the victims were taken to the hospital with serious injuries.

Police said they have one person in custody in relation to the case.

It will be a cold start to the work week, with cloudy skies and below average highs in the low-to-mid 50s for northwest Missouri and northeast Kansas. Tuesday and Wednesday a cold front will move in and give us a chance for rain and t-storms. As the warm front moves in and remains stationary it will spark rain/storm chances Wednesday through Thursday. Thursday will be the warmest day of the week with a high in the upper 70s. A cold front moves back in Friday returning highs to the low 50s for the weekend.
