Explosion injures woman in Buchanan County

A trailer explosion in Buchanan County sent a woman to the hospital with serious burns Sunday evening.

(BUCHANAN COUNTY, Mo.)- One woman was injured in a trailer explosion just outside St. Joseph Sunday evening.

At 5:39p.m., officials received a call reporting a trailer explosion at 706 SE Moore Rd. in Buchanan County.

According to the South-Central Buchanan County Fire Department and the Buchanan County Sheriff's Office, a woman in her mid-30s suffered moderate to severe burns because of her proximity to the explosion. She was taken to the University of Kansas Medical Center in Kansas City. 

The fire department, along with the sheriff's department will assist the Missouri State Fire Marshall in a full investigation.

After Monday's system moves away, we will see the return of sunshine and even warmer temperatures for Tuesday. Highs Tuesday will likely be in the lower 60s. The warm weather continues until the next chance for widespread rain that comes late Wednesday into Thursday morning as another cold front pushes through the area. We'll have cloudy skies by Thursday afternoon, but it will be much cooler with highs in the mid 40s.
