(ST. JOSEPH, Mo.) The St. Joseph Police Department responded to call of an explosion and bright flash of light outside a home on the 1600 block of Olive Street early Sunday morning.

Police said the incident happened just before 2 a.m. after the caller went outside to investigate the source of the explosion. The caller then reported seeing an explosive device on their front porch.

When authorities arrived, they found an improvised explosive device outside one resident's home.

Another device was found a short distance away from the same home. Police said the second explosive found further from the resident had exploded. However, the device located on the porch was rendered safe.

Sgt. Steve McClintick, SJPD, said he believes the devices were placed at the residence intentionally.

Authorities evacuated the house and the neighboring house as a precaution while they investigated the scene.

Everyone was let back into their homes just before 4 o'clock in the morning.

Sgt. McClintick said they have no suspects at this time.

No injuries were reported, and no property was damaged. The incident is still under investigation.

Clouds will slowly build back into the area today. Clouds will linger overnight as a cold front moves through and the winds will pick up out of the northwest at 5 to 15 mph. That front will bring us a breezy northerly wind for your Wednesday as well as some cold temperatures. Highs will struggle to warm into the lower 20 on Wednesday, but wind chills will only feel like the single digits during the afternoon. Thursday will be the coldest day of the week. Wind chills still start out sub zero Thursday morning, with temperatures only making it into the teens by the afternoon. Temperatures will slowly start to recover by the weekend.
