Double Fatality Accident Shuts Down Highway

A deadly accident has shut down Highway 59 near Savannah.

(ANDREW COUNTY, Mo.) Two people were killed in a head-on accident near Savannah.

Another person suffered serious injuries.

It happened on Highway 59 just west of Highway 71 near Lincoln Creek around 11:00 a.m.

Troopers say two pick-up trucks were involved.

The highway remains closed while investigators try to figure out how the crash happened.

The names of the crash victims have not been released.

Moving into the weekend, we will be keeping an eye on the potential for flooding rain and strong thunderstorms. On Saturday, the rain might hold off until the afternoon but will be widespread late Saturday and into Sunday. This is when the heaviest rain should fall. Expect rainfall totals to be anywhere from 2-4 inches. This could bring area streams and rivers to flood stage so make sure you are watching out for that.
