(ST. JOSEPH, Mo.) The St. Joseph Fire Department responded to a 3 alarm house fire on the 1600 block of N 3rd street Saturday night.

The house was fully engulfed in flames, that could be seen shooting at least 30 ft. into the air according to fire crews.

Fire crews also worked to save a neighboring home to the north, but they said that home did sustain fire damage to the south side of the home and to the attic.

SJFD said the previous owner of the first home recently moved away and the new homeowners recently bought the home and were in the process of moving in.

Four dogs were inside the neighboring home and were saved by firefighters. The people who live in that house were not home when the fire started but arrived soon after.

Fire officials say that no one was injured in the fire.

The American Red Cross is assisting the occupants of the second home.

There is no official word on what may have started the fire.
