Four hour standoff ends peacefully

The incident sparked a heavy police presence in the area of S. 19th St. from Mitchell Ave. to Sacramento St. Tuesday afternoon.

(ST. JOSEPH, Mo.) A four hour standoff between St. Joseph police and a suicidal subject has ended peacefully, according to police.

The incident sparked a heavy police presence in the area of S. 19th St. from Mitchell Ave. to Sacramento St. Tuesday afternoon.

According to Captain Jeff Wilson with the St. Joseph Police Department, police were called to a home around 1:00 p.m. with an armed suicidal subject inside.

A Crisis Negotiation Team later arrived on scene and began talks with the person inside the home.

The standoff ended around 4:30 p.m.

Cold Temperatures continue through the day Sunday. We will see mostly sunny skies with highs in the upper 10s to lower 20s. While the sun will be out for the game tomorrow, we have some northerly winds gusting between 20 to 25mph making it feel much colder. Wind chills will only be brushing 0 by kickoff. If you are headed to arrowhead tomorrow, make sure you bundle up. Temperatures will hold in the 20s and 30s through the first half of the week and we will see some chances for rain and warmer weather after midweek.
