Griffon Softball Splits With Pittsburg State Tuesday

Missouri Western softball splits with Pittsburg State, Tuesday. Winning game one and falling in game two.

ST. JOSEPH, Mo. – Griffon Softball (23-24, 14-8) able to take care of the Gorillas in game one of a doubleheader before dropping game two to Pittsburg State (19-30, 9-11).


Western exploded with a seven-run sixth inning to break a 4-4 tie in game one to win, 11-4. In game two, the Griffs were shut-out in a 5-0 loss the final home game of their season.

The final regular season doubleheader at Washburn was moved up to Thursday, April 19 and the Griffs finishes regular season Friday at Emporia State.

Mostly cloudy skies across much of northwest Missouri and northeast Kansas Tuesday which resulted in cold temperatures across the area. We saw some freezing rain to the south of St. Joseph Tuesday afternoon. The warmer air will start moving back into the area as we head into Wednesday afternoon with highs in the 50s. The rain chances will start to increase as we head into your Thursday and Thursday night.
