Griffon Softball Stays Hot

Griffon softball sweeps Northeastern State to continue the win streak.

Posted: Mar 23, 2018 12:24 AM

There were 20 innings and more than six hours of softball Thursday. Two game winners stretched Griffon Softball's win streak to seven.

Western (14-17, 5-1) had to rally back to take both games. They won the first game, 3-2 and won the second game thriller, 7-6 against the MIAA leading Northeastern State Riverhawks (16-13, 4-2).

The Griffons' sweep creates a log-jam atop the MIAA. Tied with Washburn and Northwest Missouri.

Western is at it again Friday against Central Oklahoma (18-13, 7-3) with 10 a.m. and noon first pitches. (Assuming game one doesn't end like Thursday)

More rain fell across the area Saturday night and the threat for rain will continue throughout the day on Sunday but the good news is that most will stay dry. Throughout the day, expect more clouds than sun but we could see a little more sunshine during the afternoon. An advancing cold front could bring a stray shower during the afternoon. Highs today are going to be in the 80s.
