Lafayette Boys Top Mid-Buchanan, Benton Girls Runs Past Savannah

Mid-Buchanan 76 - Lafayette 87

On paper, Class 4 Lafayette should have handled Class 2 Mid-Buchanan easily. But the Dragons are long and athletic, and were able to hang in with the Fighting Irish for much of the night, falling 87-76 on Monday night at Lafayette High School.

The Irish put up 32 first quarter points and Mid-Buchanan trailed 76-53 heading into the fourth quarter, but never gave up.

With the loss, Mid-Buchanan falls to 4-1 on the season, while Lafayette improves to 4-2.

Savannah (Girls) 35 - Benton 62 

The first half was a defensive battle between these MEC Conference foes, but the Lady Cardinals outscored the Savages 40-16 in the second half for the 62-35 win on Monday night.

Central (Girls) 54 - Platte County 64

The Lady Indians trailed 46-44 heading into the fourth quarterm but the Lady Pirates exploded for 18 points giving Platte County the win.

Today we had a pleasant end to the weekend with above average highs in the 70s and lots of sunshine. Tonight's conditions will be calm and clear with lows reaching the low 40s overnight. Dry and sunny weather will continue into the work week. Highs in the 70s persist through the beginning of the week, then cooling off into the low 60s as we head into next weekend.
