(ST. JOSEPH, Mo.) A St. Joseph entrepreneur worked to create a game that puts people's geography skills to the test. Jump Geo is an interactive card game designed to get kids moving and help them learn geography.

The rules of the game are simple: when a name of a state is pulled from the deck of cards, players leap onto the fold out map and correctly match the names of states with the image on the map.

Jump Geo creator Caroline Castor, a homeschooling mother of four, got the idea from watching her kids play at home.

“I was trying to teach my young children geography and figure out how to engage them and make it fun so they would want to learn,” Castor said.

Castor used the crowdfunding platform 'Kickstarter' to gain support for her idea. Kickstarter collects pledges from people who would like to purchase the game.

If the goal number of pledges is met, the project is created and delivered to those who pledged to buy the product. If the number is not met, the project is not funded and supporters are not charged for the game.

Currently, Castor's Kickstarter needs 500 pledges to bring Jump Geo to life.

Castor said she wanted to start teaching young kids about geography, because it gives context to other subjects they will study later on.

“Geography is really important, because it’s so foundational to understanding history and it gives history context. It gives art and architecture context,” Castor said.

Jump Geo is recommended for everyone above the age of three and includes a deck of 50 cards with the names and locations of each state as well as a 4x6 fold out map.

Castor said if Jump Geo is a successful game, she would like to expand it into a series which would include state capitols, national parks and international maps.

Castor’s Kickstarter campaign is expected to launch later this month. To pre-order a Jump Geo game, log on to
