Northwest campus police investigating on-campus sexual assault

University Police at Northwest Missouri State University are investigating an on-campus sexual assault that took place on September 23rd.

(MARYVILLE, Mo.) - University Police at Northwest Missouri State University are investigating an on-campus sexual assault that took place on September 23rd.

According to Chief of University Police Clarence Green, police responded to a call of an alleged sexual assault between 1:45 a.m. and 2:00 a.m. on the 23rd. One student was taken into custody at the scene.

The incident took place at an on-campus residence hall.

No additional details have been released at this time.

There is a chance for scattered showers this afternoon across northeast Kansas and northwest Missouri, however a better chance for showers and storms will return tonight into the overnight hours. A few storms could be on the strong to severe side overnight. Scattered showers and storms will continue off and on mainly through the morning and afternoon hours on Saturday. Temperatures will be much cooler on Saturday with highs in the mid 80s. Dry and sunny conditions will take over on Sunday and continue into next week as temperatures stay seasonal.
