One person life-flighted to hospital after crash on Highway 59

Troopers said a vehicle with one male driver ran off the roadway and hit the embankment.

(BUCHANAN COUNTY, Mo.) One person was life-flighted to KU Medical Center after a single vehicle accident on Highway 59 Tuesday morning.

According to the Missouri State Highway Patrol, troopers responded to the crash on Highway 59 near State Highway KK around 5:45 a.m. Tuesday.

Troopers said the driver of a Chevrolet S-10 pick-up ran off the roadway into a drainage culvert and hit the embankment. Christopher Lurquin, 34, of Atchison, Kansas suffered serious injuries and was taken by Life Net to the hospital.

Troopers said Lurquin was conscious when he was removed from the vehicle.

No one else was involved in the crash.

The cause of the accident is still under investigation.

A strong cold front has made its way into northwest Missouri and northeast Kansas bringing much cooler air and a lot of clouds across the area. Friday night and Saturday the cold air will continue to be in place with daytime highs only reaching into the 40's. As the weekend continues we will see increasing chances for rain and maybe some snow. A cold start to the beginning of next week with highs only in the 30's and 40's.
