Police identify woman killed in Belt Highway crash

The St. Joseph Police Department has identified the 29-year-old woman killed in a Belt Highway crash Friday.

(ST. JOSEPH, Mo.)- The St. Joseph Police Department has identified the 29-year-old woman killed in a Belt Highway crash Friday.

Officials and court documents said 29-year-old Cassandra D. Blackmore of Atchison, Ks. was killed when 23-year-old Bronson Cooper ran a red light on South Belt Highway near 36 Highway and struck Blackmore's vehicle. 

The Buchanan County prosecutor's office has charged Cooper with one count of second-degree involunatry manslaughter. 

Blackmore's 8-year-old passenger was life flighted to Children's Mercy Hospital with serious injuries.

Clouds will continue to move into the area tonight with a slight chance for an isolated shower. Tomorrow we will see a few scattered showers and isolated thunderstorms move through the area, mainly through the morning and afternoon hours. Temperatures will warm into the upper 60s and lower 70s. Rain chances are set to continue on Sunday with temperatures back in the 60s. Rain chances will linger into next week. The rain will be on the lighter side Monday into Tuesday. Ran showers will increase with the possibility for a few thunderstorms Wednesday into Thursday. Temperatures will continue warm into next week with highs in the mid to upper 70s.
