(ST. JOSEPH, Mo.) A romantic 44th date caught the eyes of drivers along South Belt Highway in St. Joseph outside the Pizza Hut restaurant.

Bill and Jan Evans celebrated their 44th anniversary Thursday with a picnic under the Pizza Hut sign.

The two shared their first date here, and they come back to celebrate every year.

So, when the location switched to carry out and delivery only, Bill asked if he could set up this picnic for his wife, anyway.

The store's general manager says they're welcome to celebrate with them every year.

"I told them they can come back as long as we're here and do whatever they want," said General Manger Brittany Smith. "I even offered to set up a table for them inside, but they were enjoying the weather outside. So they said they were perfectly fine doing what they were doing outside."
