Royals Nab First Win on The Year

The Royals get their first win on the year against the Detroit Tigers, 1-0.

DETROIT, Mi. - It took four games, but the Royals grab their first win on the year against the Tigers, 1-0 Tuesday.

It wasn't pretty on the offensive side. Sacrifice flys were able to advance Cheslor Cuthbert home to get the game's only run.

Nonetheless, the Royals were able to get the first run and hold onto the lead. The previous games saw the Royals take an early lead, only to have those leads vanish.

Kansas City's Jakob Junis was able to keep the runs off the board, pitching seven shut-out innings with six strike-outs.

The Royals finish the series against Detroit, Wednesday. Danny Duffy returns to the mound, looking for his first win on the year against Detroit's Daniel Norris. First pitch is 12:05 CT in Detroit.
