SJPD warns of phone scam

The St. Joseph Police Department is warning people about a new phone scam.

(ST. JOSEPH, Mo.)- The St. Joseph Police Department is warning people about a new phone scam.

According to SJPD officials, they have received numerous calls reporting what appears to be a phone scam that threatens individuals  that they will be arrested due to unpaid taxes. 

Officials said unless you have given money or personal information to the scammer, there is no need to contact the Communication Center.

A sunny and very windy Thursday across northwest Missouri and northeast Kansas. Sunny skies and below normal temperatures were found across the area Thursday afternoon as another strong cold front has made its way into the area bringing cooler air and strong winds with it.
