SJSD middle schools, high schools to dismiss early Thursday due to heat

Temperatures are forecasted to be in the mid-90s Thursday.

(ST. JOSEPH, Mo.)— St. Joseph School District middle schools and high schools will have a two-hour early dismissal Thursday, Sept. 20 due to the heat.

According to school district officials, elementary schools will remain in session for the entire day as scheduled. All SJSD preschool schedules will remain unchanged. Hillyard Technical Center and Webster Learning Center will follow the same schedule as Wednesday.

All after school activities will follow MSHSAA guidelines.

Temperatures are forecasted to be in the mid-90s Thursday.

After Monday's system moves away, we will see the return of sunshine and even warmer temperatures for Tuesday. Highs Tuesday will likely be in the lower 60s. The warm weather continues until the next chance for widespread rain that comes late Wednesday into Thursday morning as another cold front pushes through the area. We'll have cloudy skies by Thursday afternoon, but it will be much cooler with highs in the mid 40s.
