(ST. JOSEPH, Mo.) St. Joseph Republican Brenda Shields said Tuesday she will run for the District 11 seat in the Missouri House of Representatives.
"I am a longtime resident of St. Joseph and Northwest Missouri, and I believe our region deserves leadership that will fight for our people and for the policies that will grow our communities and our state for the future," said Mrs. Shields.
She said she wants northwest Missouri to be a leader in the state for business and people development. She also believes in investing in infrastructure and creating a business climate that promotes small business. Shields also supports investing in education as a tool for long-term economic development.
Shields is the former President and CEO of the United Way of Greater St. Joseph. She also taught business Benton High School and Truman Middle School.
Shields is the wife of former State Senator and current President and CEO of Truman Medical Center Charlie Shields.
