St. Joseph man in hospital following structure fire

The St. Joseph Fire Department responded to a structure fire on the 600 block of East Kansas Avenue Sunday night.

(ST. JOSEPH, Mo.) The St. Joseph Fire Department responded to a structure fire on the 600 block of East Kansas Avenue Sunday night. The fire was first reported around 9:50p.m.

Fire officials said one man lived in the home and was rescued from the house by neighbors. He was taken to the hospital with minor injuries.

The home sustained smoke and water damage, but officials said the cause of the fire is still under investigation.

A strong cold front has made its way into northwest Missouri and northeast Kansas bringing much cooler air and a lot of clouds across the area. Friday night and Saturday the cold air will continue to be in place with daytime highs only reaching into the 40's. As the weekend continues we will see increasing chances for rain and maybe some snow. A cold start to the beginning of next week with highs only in the 30's and 40's.
