Stabbing death leads to homicide investigation

One person was taken into custody at the scene.

(ST. JOSEPH, Mo.) St. Joseph police are investigating a homicide after a man died following a stabbing.

Police were called to the intersection of S. 26th and Mitchell Avenue around 8:00 p.m. Monday.

According to a witness on the scene, the victim was stabbed several times by another man during a fight.

One person was taken into custody at the scene.

Police said both the victim and the suspect were 39-year-old men. Their names have not been released.

Use caution when spending time outside this afternoon. Hot and humid conditions will continue on Friday with highs back in the upper 90s and lower 100s with heat index values reaching triple digits. A cold front will move through the area Friday afternoon into the evening bringing the chance for a few showers and thunderstorms. Scattered rain chances will continue through the weekend with highs in the lower 90s. Highs in the 80s will return for the beginning of next week.
