One person is dead and a suspect is in custody after shooting in Fairfax Monday

One person was shot and killed after a shooting in Fairfax Monday morning, according to the Missouri State Highway Patrol.

(FAIRFAX, Mo.) One person is dead and a suspect is in custody after a shooting in Fairfax Monday morning, highway patrol says.

According to the Missouri State Highway Patrol, officers responded the an apartment complex located at 611 Pine Street at 9:40 a.m.

Troopers said one person was shot and killed and the suspect began a standoff with police.

The suspect surrendered an hour later at 10:41 a.m after a short exchange of gunfire. No law enforcement officer was injured. The suspect had injuries to his hands and arms.

The names of the victim and the suspect have not yet been released.

So far there are no details on what led up to the shooting.
