UPDATE: 1 detained after Saturday shooting

The incident happened at a home on the 2900 block of Penn Street Saturday afternoon around 1:30 p.m.

(ST. JOSEPH, Mo.) One male juvenile has been detained in connection to a shooting Saturday afternoon, according to police.

Around 1:30 p.m., police responded to a shooting at a home in the 2900 block of Penn St. Upon arrival, police said they found one teenage male with a gunshot wound.  

According to police, the injured teen has been life-flighted to Children’s Mercy Hospital in Kansas City, where he remains in critical condition.

It will be a cold start to the work week, with cloudy skies and below average highs in the low-to-mid 50s for northwest Missouri and northeast Kansas. Tuesday and Wednesday a cold front will move in and give us a chance for rain and t-storms. As the warm front moves in and remains stationary it will spark rain/storm chances Wednesday through Thursday. Thursday will be the warmest day of the week with a high in the upper 70s. A cold front moves back in Friday returning highs to the low 50s for the weekend.
