Donald "Jerry" Rhoads, 68, Bolckow, Missouri, passed away Sunday, May 6, 2018 surrounded by his family after a courageous battle with cancer.

Jerry was born September 7, 1949 in St Joseph, Missouri to George R. and Ora (Sybert) Rhoads. Jerry attended North Andrew High School, Class of 1967, where his passion for sports led him to excel. After high school, he joined the United States Army where he proudly served from April 1969 to November of 1970.

Jerry married Barb Boswell on May 13th, 1973 in Savannah, Missouri, she preceded him in death on July 16, 2014.

Jerry was a self-employed truck driver for over 40 years. In 2000, Jerry and Barb bought their farm, east of Bolckow, where they found their true joy in raising quarter horses, along with showing some of the nicest horses in the area. Most of all, Jerry was a loving father, husband, grandfather, brother, and son, who would help anyone in need.

In addition to his wife of 41 years, Mr. Rhoads was preceded in death by his parents, a nephew and great-nephew.

Survivors include sons, Jared Rhoads, Bolckow, daughter, Dawn Chambers, Bolckow, sons Clay Stanton, St. Joseph, Mike (Dawn) Blackney, Maryville, Missouri; 7 grandchildren; sister Judy (John) Flora, Bolckow, brother George (Joan) Rhoads, Jr. Pittsburg, Missouri, three nephews, and two nieces.

Funeral Service 10:30AM Wednesday, May 9, at Heaton-Bowman-Smith Savannah Chapel, Savannah, Missouri. The family will receive friends from 6:00PM to 8:00PM Tuesday evening at our Chapel. Interment with full Military Honors, Bolckow Cemetery, Bolckow, Missouri.

In lieu of flowers, the family suggests memorial contributions be made to the Bolckow Cemetery or to Camp Quality.

Sunday we saw 2-4 inches of snow across northeast Kansas and northwest Missouri. Heavier snow was found to the southwest of us with amounts reaching up to 4 -7 inches of snow. A Winter Weather Advisory is in effect from 9am Sunday until 6pm on Monday.
