1935-2018

Douglas Lee Sutton, 83, St. Joseph, Missouri, passed away Friday, May 18, 2018.
He was born January 19, 1935 in Winnwood, Missouri the son of Mary (Phipps) Sutton and Carl Ellsworth Sutton.
Doug was a life-long resident of St. Joseph, Missouri. He worked at Larabee Mills for 30 years, serving as a supervisor in later years. He then worked at American Family Insurance for 15 years until retirement in 1972.
He enjoyed motorcycle riding, photography, computers, and HAM Radio. Doug was a Mason and a member of Missouri Valley Amateur Radio Club.
He was preceded in death by his parents; brother, Carl Sutton and sister, Vivian Gust.
Survivors include numerous nieces, Phyllis Brooks (Bill), St Joseph, Missouri, Linda Kirschner (Roger), Neosho, Missouri; nephew, Clifford Gust (Barbara), Alden, New York.
At Doug’s request there will be no funeral. The family would like to express thanks to his supportive neighbors, his many friends, the staff at Riverside Diversicare, Mosaic and to Diane Waddell, FNP-BC.

A strong cold front will make its way into northwest Missouri and northeast Kansas bringing much cooler air and a good chance for showers and thunderstorms Thursday night into Friday. Friday and Saturday the cold air will continue to be in place with daytime highs only reaching into the 40's. As the weekend continues we will see increasing chances for rain. A cold start to the beginning of next week with highs only in the 30's and 40's.
