Northwest picked to finish 1st in MIAA, Griffons tabbed 9th

The Northwest Missouri State Bearcat football team was picked to finish first in the MIAA this season by both the coaches and the media.

(KANSAS CITY, Ks.)- The Northwest Missouri State Bearcat football team was picked to finish first in the MIAA this season by both the coaches and the media. 

In the coaches poll, the Bearcats received four 1st-place votes, while Fort Hays State received five. In the media poll, Northwest received 14 1st-place votes. 

Missouri Western was picked to finish ninth by the coaches and eighth by the media. 

The Griffons open up the 2018 season on the road Aug. 30 against Northwest.

A weak cold front will move through the area later this evening. Clouds will build into the area today as the front passes. A few isolated areas of light rain can’t be ruled out as the front moves through. Temperatures will remain in the 70s on Saturday under mostly sunny skies. Temperatures will really start to warm up on Sunday with highs in the upper 80s. Above average temperatures will continue through the beginning of next week as sunny and dry weather remains.
