Mosaic’s precautionary info for Fourth of July weekend
(ST. JOSEPH, Mo) As the Fourth of July weekend is nearing, Mosaic Life Care is reminding people of where they should go in case of injury.
This holiday weekend tends to be a busy time for emergency rooms (ER) and urgent cares (UC) due to the rise of firework and water related injuries.
Mosaic encourages people to celebrate the Fourth but in the case of injury, they released a list on Facebook to advise whether you should go to the ER or UC.
The full list is below.
Visit the Emergency Department for:
- - Burns on the face, hands or feet
- - Chest pain or pressure could indicate signs of a heart attack
- - Deep or large cuts that involve muscle or bone
- - Difficulty breathing or shortness of breath
- - Drowning and near-drowning incidents
- - Head injuries that cause a loss of consciousness or confusion
- - Heat-related illnesses
- - Severe allergic reactions
- - Signs of a stroke
- - Uncontrolled bleeding that doesn't stop with pressure
Visit Urgent Care for:
- - Cold or flu symptoms, including a sore throat, cough or mild fever
- - Ear or eye infections
- - Food poisoning, nausea, vomiting or diarrhea without signs of dehydration
- - Urinary tract infections
- - Minor cuts, burns or sprains
- - Minor back pain
- - Skin rashes or insect bites that aren't spreading
