Disability Rights advocates gathers at State Capitol

JEFFERSON CITY, Mo. (KQTV) To commemorate the 25th Annual Disability Rights Legislative Day, disability rights advocates met in the Capitol Rotunda Wednesday.

Elected officials and self-advocates spoke at the gathering to educate and inform legislators on disability rights.

The rally was put into motion shortly after Missouri Governor Mike Kehoe suggested $80 million to be cut from the 2027 fiscal year budget.

Senator Rusty Black released a statement to the media speaking about the funding cut.

"As chairman of the Senate Appropriations Committee, my intention is to work with my colleagues to restore these cuts as the Senate builds its budget," Black said.
