Tracking a warm and sunny end to the workweek
Good morning and happy Thursday.
It’s a slightly cooler start compared to yesterday as you head out the door, but the rain and clouds have moved out overnight. Most locations picked up less than a tenth of an inch of rain.
Springlike weather returns today with plenty of sunshine and afternoon temperatures in the low 60s. We’ll continue warming into Friday, with highs climbing into the low 70s.
Very breezy and dry conditions are expected Friday, which could elevate the fire risk. Outdoor burning is not recommended.
A cold front moves through Friday night, dropping temperatures into the upper 50s for Saturday. Skies remain mostly sunny and breezy. Colder air settles in Sunday ahead of a wintry system.
That system arrives Sunday morning, bringing a mix of snow, rain and the potential for freezing rain. The timing and transition between freezing rain and snow remain uncertain. Be sure to download the KQ2 Storm Tracker app for updates as we get closer to the weekend.
There is about a 30% to 40% chance of around 1 inch of snow, with higher chances farther north. After Sunday, temperatures warm back into the 40s. However, an active pattern continues, with multiple chances for rain through the middle of next week.
