9 area wrestlers win state championships
COLUMBIA, Mo. (KQTV) — Nine northwest Missouri area high school wrestlers took home state championships Thursday night.
In the MSHSAA Class 1 Girls State Tournament, Gallatin's Miah Parker won the 235-pound championship.
Parker defeated Rockwood Summit's Kamauri Fowler. The Bulldogs junior won via 4-3 decision.
As for the Class 1 Boys State Tournament, eight wrestlers won a state title.
Gallatin's Nicholas Larsen defeated Windsor's Nico Punshon via major decision, 13-2, in the 106-pound championship.
In the 120-pound weight class, Trenton's Jacob White beat California's Connor Farmer, 15-5, in a major decision.
Lathrop's Garrett Beane topped Cameron's Will Erickson via fall at 2:35 in the 126-pound weight class.
As for the 144-pound weight class, Gallatin's Eli Sperry won via technical fall, 15-0, against Lathrop's Drake Coots.
Lawson's Conner Menke beat Carrollton's Corbin Kelly via pin at 1:20 in the 150-pound class.
Carter Harms, a Maysville junior, defeated Lathrop's Justice James via decision, 8-1, in the 190-pound championship.
South Harrison's Crae Coffey won the 215-pound title with a 8-1 decision victory against North Callaway's Hunter Long.
In the 285-pound weight class, Rock Port's Ryder Herron won the state title via 7-2 decision against North Callaway's Gunnar Wenneker.
