Hamilton, Nodaway Valley boys hoops advance to Class 2 District 16 Championship

(ST. JOSEPH, MO) - The semifinals were Thursday night for the Class 2 District 16 High School Boys Basketball Tournament.

The 3 seed Hamilton Hornets took down 2 seed Gallatin, 63-57.

Hamilton senior Jacob Miller led all scorers with 28 points, sophomore Jared Cooley and freshman Hudson Creekmore both finished with 13 points. For Gallatin, junior Reid Hemry led the team with 18 points, followed by senior Pryce Johnson with 17 and senior Gavin Wilmes with 15.

Hamilton improves to 20-8 on the season and Gallatin ends the year with a 24-4 record.

In the other game, 1 seed Nodaway Valley defeated 4 seed Albany, 60-35.

Sophomore Jax Cowden led Nodaway Valley with 16 points, followed by sophomore Braxton McGuinness with 13 and senior Tyler Gray with 11 points. For Albany, senior Daulton Worrell led the team with 12 points, followed by senior Jace Palmer with 11.

Nodaway Valley improves to 24-3 on the season and Albany finishes with a 16-12 record.

Nodaway Valley will face Hamilton for the Class 2 District 16 Championship on Saturday, February 28th at 1 pm at St. Joseph Christian.
