Hurt’s Donuts puts on fundraiser for Maryville family
MARYVILLE, Mo. (KQTV) -- Jacob Walter's Faith Over Fear journey continues as Hurt's Donut Company traveled up from Springfield, Mo., to put on a fundraiser at The Bridge Maryville.
Walter is a young man from Maryville struggling with heart issues.
The event began at 11 a.m., but residents were wrapped around the building waiting in line well before the doors opened.
"We thought it would be big, but not this big," Event Organizer Kathe Demott said. "They're overwhelmed, and so am I at how many people have shown up and supported him."
The amount of work that goes into putting on one of these fundraisers is not easy, but the end product is always worth it.
"Wednesday, all the way through Friday morning, we are just cranking it out," Hurts Donut's General Manager Josh Stone said. "We're basically making donuts for an entire 36-hour period."
The Hurt's Donuts Company puts on a fundraiser a week all around the state.
"If there's any communities out there that have tragedies or different situations going on that we can help raise funds for, reach out and let us know," Stone said. "The more we know about, the more that we can get out and help."
All of the proceeds made at the event will go towards Jacob for heart transplant surgery.
