MoWest men’s basketball claims 4-seed in MIAA Tournament

ST. JOSEPH, Mo. (KQTV) — The MoWest men's basketball team is heading to the MIAA Tournament in Kansas City, Mo. next week.

The Griffons are the four-seed in the MIAA Tournament and will play No. 5 Arkansas Fort Smith at 6 p.m. on Friday, March 6 in the quarterfinals at Municipal Auditorium.

The Griffons finished the regular season on Saturday with a 15-point win, 97-82, on the road at Newman.

Mowest went 20-10 overall and 12-7 in conference play. This marks the Griffons' first 20-win season since 2003. Back in 2003, the Griffons won the MIAA Tournament and that was the first year the tournament was played at Municipal Auditorium.

Heading into the tournament, the Griffons have won seven of their last 10 games. One of the three losses was against Arkansas-Fort Smith, 98-87.
