ST. JOSEPH, Mo. (KQTV) -- With Missouri House of Representative member, Bill Falkner, set to term out next year, St. Joseph School District Board of Education President LaTonya Williams is throwing her name in the hat to represent District 10.

District 10, which covers Buchanan County, will be up for grabs in November of 2026.

With Williams recently declaring for District 10, she is hoping to be a loud and proud voice that represents Buchanan County.

"I am an elected official, but I'm not a politician. I'm a community servant," said Williams. "I'm a worker of the people, for the interests of the people, all people and I think that my work on the school board, and my job and everything else that I do has already proven that."

"We need a voice at the capitol, and we need a strong voice at the capitol, and we need a voice who is able to prove, that even once I'm elected, I'm not going to change up," said Williams. "I'm going to be as I was a year ago, I will be able to do what's right for all people at all times."

As Williams is in the early stages of the campaign trail, she and other Democrats will be at a candidate forum later this month.
