Bishop LeBlond baseball falls to Marceline in extra innings in WOW Wood Bat Tournament

(ST. JOSEPH, MO) - In the WOW Wood Bat Tournament quarterfinals in the White Division, Bishop LeBlond High School baseball fell 5-3 to Marceline in 8 innings.

Northwest Missouri State baseball signee Cody Rodgers got the scoring started for Marceline on an RBI single in the top of the first to take a 1-0 lead. Neither team scored again until Harrison Green added another RBI single for the Tigers in the 7th inning to lead 2-0.

With their backs against the wall in the bottom of the 7th, Bishop LeBlond tied the game on a 2 RBI double from senior Sam Page, sending the game to extra innings.

In the top of the 8th, Marceline brought across 3 more runs and that was enough to earn a victory.

Sophomore Pax Helsel started on the mound for LeBlond, going 6.2 innings with 6 strikeouts with 9 hits given up and 2 runs. For Marceline, Rodgers pitched 3.1 innings with 6 strikeouts, 1 hit given up and no runs. Green then came in and pitched 4.2 innings with 5 strikeouts, 3 hits and 2 runs given up.

Bishop LeBlond drops to 2-6 on the season and Marceline improves to 5-4. LeBlond will now play in the WOW Wood Bat Tournament consolation bracket on Saturday, April 11th at 6:15 pm at Bartlett Park.
