File

ST. JOSEPH, Mo. (KQTV) -- The City of St. Joseph announced that the Joyce Raye Patterson 50+ Activity Center will be temporarily closed for a scheduled elevator repair starting on April 20.

Work is expected to be completed by Monday, May 18, 2026.

During construction, the center will temporarily close to patrons from April 23 through May 9.

While the facility is closed, staff will perform a deep cleaning of the facility, complete minor repairs, and perform touch-up painting, according to a news release.

The building will reopen with temporary adjustments for parking and building entrances. Twelve temporary parking spaces will be available near the facility's main entrance on South 10th Street and Edmond Street for those who use canes, walkers, or wheelchairs.

People who are able to use stairs are asked to park in the lower-level areas.
