Tracking a sunny Thursday & Friday T-storms

Good morning and happy Thursday. As you head out the door, temperatures are noticeably cooler compared to yesterday, with morning lows in the lower 50s and a light southerly wind.

Some patchy fog may develop in low-lying areas, especially along the river, but otherwise skies will remain clear.

Temperatures will rebound quickly today, climbing into the mid- to upper 80s under mostly sunny skies. Dry conditions will hold through the day, but changes arrive Friday.

A cold front is expected to move through early Friday afternoon, bringing the potential for strong to severe thunderstorms along and ahead of the boundary. The region is currently under a Level 3 (enhanced) risk for severe weather Friday afternoon and evening.

Primary threats include damaging winds, large hail and the potential for brief, spin-up tornadoes. Storms are expected to develop between 2 and 3 p.m. and could continue into the overnight hours.

Behind the front, cooler air settles in for the weekend. Highs will drop into the upper 50s on Saturday and the upper 60s by Sunday. Dry conditions are expected to persist through the weekend before rain chances return by midweek, with the next opportunity arriving Wednesday.
