Skidmore man arrested, charged after allegedly killing two females

UPDATE 4/19 6:11 P.M. -- The Missouri State Highway Patrol Troop H provided an update to the investigation on Sunday, April 19.

According to MSHP, on Saturday, April 18, the Nodaway County Sheriff's Office requested MSHP's Division of Drug and Crime Control (DDCC) to investigate a reported double homicide near the intersection of MO Highway 46 and Route PP, north of Skidmore, Mo.

When arriving, law enforcement located two female victims deceased at a residence by apparent gunshots.

Authorities located a person of interest, who was taken into custody at the scene by the Nodaway County Sheriff's Office.

The deceased victims were identified, with investigators currently attempting to notify next of kin.

Also April 19, DDCC submitted a probably cause statement for formal chargest to the Nodaway County Prosecuting Attorney, Tina Deiter.

Keevin J. Maupin, 20, of Skidmore, has been charged with two counts of murder 1st-Degree, and two counts of Armed Criminal Action.

He is currently being held without bond in the Nodaway County Jail.

NODAWAY COUNTY, Mo. (KQTV) -- The Missouri State Highway Patrol and the Nodaway County Sheriff's Office are investigating a double homicide near Skidmore, Missouri, following a heavy law enforcement presence Saturday night.

Around 5:38 p.m. on Saturday, April 18, the Nodaway County Sheriff’s Department requested assistance from MSHP in a death investigation, which was confirmed to KQ2 later that night.

At approximately 10:34 a.m. Sunday, the Missouri State Highway Patrol confirmed via social media that the Nodaway County Sheriff’s Department had requested the MSHP Division of Drug and Crime Control to investigate a reported double homicide.

The incident occurred at a residence north of Skidmore, near the intersection of Route PP and Missouri Highway 46.

MSHP confirmed that one person of interest is in custody in connection with the ongoing investigation, and officials believe there is no threat to the community at this time.

No additional information has been released as authorities continue to investigate the case.
