Central High School boys baseball falls to Oak Park

(ST. JOSEPH, MO) - The Central High School baseball team started strong against Oak Park, but the hitting quieted down for the Indians after the third inning in a 6-2 defeat.

The Indians got on the board first in the bottom of the second on a sac fly hit by freshman Eliezer Cuba to make it 1-0. Then down 2-1 in the bottom of the second, Central junior Trevor Arnold then tied the game 2-2 on an RBI single. But Oak Park then answered with 2 runs in the fourth and 2 more in the sixth.

Junior Cole Hass started on the mound for the Indians, and while he finished with 10 strikeouts in 4.2 innings pitched, he gave up 5 hits and 4 runs in the defeat, picking up the loss.

Oak Park started senior Cole Wells on the mound, in 5.2 innings pitched, Wells struck out 9 batters and gave up 4 hits and 2 runs. Central was held to just 4 hits all game.

The Indians fall to 8-6 on the season and next host Staley on Thursday, April 23rd at 7 pm.
