Tracking morning thunderstorms and cooler temperatures tomorrow

Abigail McCluskey

Good morning and happy Monday.

As you’re heading out the door this morning, we’re under another KQ2 Action Alert Day. Strong storms moved through late last night into early this morning, and rain is still ongoing. Some areas have already picked up nearly 2 inches of rainfall.

A Flood Watch remains in effect until 7 p.m. this evening for all of northwest Missouri and northeast Kansas. A Severe Thunderstorm Watch is in place until 10 a.m. for areas along and south of Highway 36.

Scattered showers and thunderstorms will continue through the morning hours, with another chance for storms later this evening—mainly east of Interstate 35. At this point, that activity looks to be on the lower end of the severe threat.

Highs today will be significantly cooler, only reaching the low to mid-60s. We’ll stay in the 60s through much of the workweek before temperatures warm back into the low 70s by the weekend.
